The Butterfly Creek Inn is serenely located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, in TRYON, North Carolina-- just 3 miles from I-26 or I-74, along the banks of the “Butterfly Creek” and just 500 yards from a waterfall!.  

We are located about 40 miles southeast of Asheville, North Carolina.  We are the closest Bed & Breakfast to FENCE Equestrian Nature Center, Lake Adger, and the White Oak Development (Palmer’s new golf course!). 5 to 10 minutes to all sorts of adventure from Butterfly Creek!

Peaceful towns of Tryon, Saluda, Hendersonville, Flat Rock and Columbus, North Carolina and Landrum, South Carolina beckon you to hike the waterfalls, and streams, horse back ride, view our incredibly awesome mountain views or shop until you drop for antiques, treasures, goodies or hard to find perennials and original art.

Enjoy a canoe or moon lit boat ride on Beautiful LAKE LURE, look out from Chimney Rock,  or gaze upon Bradley or Pearson Falls-just 20 minutes away, and then there is all the history of Flat Rock and The Biltmore Estate to find if you have the time. The ride is a mountain view away!

From Asheville, NC: Take I-26 east to Highway 74 exit, (exit #36). As you exit, follow the signs to Charlotte. Take the first exit, Hwy 108, (exit #163). At the end of the exit ramp, go straight across Hwy 108 onto Fox Mountain Road. You will cross #108.   Go 1.9 miles to Smith Dairy Road. Turn right and travel .9 miles to Butterfly Creek Inn – which will be on your right.

From Columbia/Charleston, SC: Take I-26 west to Highway 108 (NC exit #36). Head east (right) at the end of the ramp onto Highway 108. Go through downtown Columbus, past the Milliken plant to Fox Mountain Road. Turn right and travel 1.9 miles to Smith Diary Road. Turn right and travel .9 miles to Butterfly Creek Inn – which will be on your right.

From Charlotte, NC: Take I-85 South to Highway 74 (at King's Mountain) towards Shelby. Take Exit #163 (Columbus/Mill Spring) and at the end of the exit ramp turn left onto Highway 108. Go about 1/4 mile and turn left onto Fox Mountain Road. Travel 1.9 miles to Smith Dairy Road. Turn right and travel .9 miles to Butterfly Creek Inn – which will be on your right.
